20 june, Solukhumbu- The Supreme Court has upheld the decision of Thulung Dudhkoshi rural municipality on transfer of teachers. A division bench of SC Justices Dipak Kumar Karki and Dambar Bahadur Shahi upheld the decision.
Earlier, SC Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana had issued the interim order on June 7, asking the rural municipality not to implement the decision to transfer teachers.
On May 8, the rural municipality had installed and transferred 67 teachers at various schools within the rural municipality as per section 24 of Rural Education Act 2074.
Challenging the decision, teachers including Dilli Bahadur Khulal Basnet filed a writ petition at the SC on June 6.
Upon the recent decision of SC, the rural municipality chairman Asim Rai expressed confidence that the SC decision would help rural municipality’s campaign of educational reform. He further said even the honest teachers were facing problems due to some deceitful teachers. (RSS)
