PM Oli inaugurates Prime Minister Self-employment Programme

7 june, kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the government was moving forward seeking solution to every problem in the country.

Inaugurating the Prime Minister Self-employment Programme organized in Bhaktapur today, he said the government was identifying solution to every problem.

“The government has sought solution to problems in response to those people lashing it what it was doing when four million Nepali youths are in abroad employment. This programme is an example of this,” he said.

Stating that this great campaign has begun in a grand manner, PM Oli said it was not like any seminar but a campaign that started with real work. The government is working to create ‘digital Nepal’, he said, adding that every state, municipality and rural municipality would be turned ‘digital’.

The Prime Minister maintained that no Nepali will now have to go abroad looking for work as the government would provide employment to all within the country itself. He described the Prime Minister Self-employment Programme as an illustration of the great campaign of nation building.

PM Oli said: ‘Now, no one will face problem as the government has conducted a campaign of security of life of people from children to the senior citizens. Some reactionary elements are active as they are nervous at the great campaign initiated by the government. Gone are the days of keeping the people in confusion and taking them for a ride.

People who are into extortion, setting off bombs and looting in the name of revolution are also active but the elements that are involved in violence and terrorism would not be successful.’

He added that even some ‘foolish’ people who are calling for revival of monarchy that kept the country in darkness for 204 years would not be able to do anything.

In the programme, PM also initiated the construction of a road from Subarna Chok of Katunje to Tindhara. On the occasion, he handed over shovel and other tools to youths involved in the programme.

Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Gokarna Bista said the government has introduced the Prime Minister Self-employment Programme with a goal of making the unemployed youths self-employed. He added that although this programme has been implemented partially in the current fiscal year, it would be expanded throughout the country with the goal of providing jobs to at least 500,000 unemployed youths from the coming fiscal year. He said the government has brought the employment programme for both educated and uneducated people.

Lawmaker and former minister for industry, Mahesh Basnet said that the government has provided Rs 24.6 million for the employment programme in four municipalities of Bhaktapur. He said that the municipalities would mobilize the unemployed youths at the ward level in work from June 16 itself.

“The government should set up an Employment Bank and provide employment to the unemployed youths based on their qualification as per the data of unemployed youths. Employment can be given to 1.2 million youths in agriculture sector alone while more than 700,000 youths can be given work in the construction industry.

State 3 State Assembly member Rajani Jonchhe, joint secretary at the ministry of labour and employment, Maheshwar Dahal, mayor of Changunaeayan municipality Basudev Thapa, mayor of Madhyapur Thimi municipality Madan Sundar Shrestha, among other speakers said the PM Self-employment Programme has opened the door of employment in the country.

Around 750 unemployed youths of Bhaktapur have got work under this programme. Some 1,500 youths had enlisted their names in the unemployed youth list.

Minister Bista, lawmaker Basnet, the mayors and people’s representatives and the youths had lend their hands in the road construction as part of the inauguration of the programme today. (RSS)
