30 may, kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has left for New Delhi today to participate in the Swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi, who starts his second term as India’s prime minister after a resounding victory in the recently concluded parliamentary elections.
Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, National Assembly chair Ganesh Prasad Timalsina, Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel, Deputy leader of the Nepal Communist Party Parliamentary Party Subas Nembang, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Finance Minister Dr Yubraj Khatiwda, Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, other ministers, parliamentarians, and chiefs of all three security bodies bade farewell to Prime Minister Oli at VVIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport.
A contingent of Nepal Army offered a guard of honour to the Prime Minister on the occasion. PM Oli is scheduled to return home on Friday.
PM Oli is accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya. Prime Minister Oli is one of the VVIP guests, out of eight VVIP guests from neighbouring countries, invited by the Indian government in swearing-in ceremony.
In the previous swearing in ceremony of Indian PM Modi in 2014, then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala was in attendance in the capacity of the chief of the government of a SAARC country, Nepal. Unlike in the previous swearing in ceremony in 2014, chiefs of the government of all SAARC countries have not been invited for this ceremony this time, according to Indian media.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Modi is taking the oath of office and secrecy for his second term as PM of India today evening. The venue for the swearing in is Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. (RSS)
