28 may, Banke – The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Nepalgunj office has received 761 complaints of violation of rights till the first nine months (till April 13) of the current fiscal year.
The data shows that Banke (284) is ahead in the entire State 5 in terms of the violation of human rights. The district is followed by Rolpa (132), Bardiya (166), east Rukum (81), Dang (77) and Pyuthan (21).
This figure includes the violation of human rights, civil and political rights, economic, social and cultural rights, child rights, caste-based discriminations, women rights and torture-related cases. The office has completed investigations into grievances and recommended the central office for action in regard with 114 cases.
According to office human rights officer Ramesh Rawat, 40 survivors of several incidences were given the socio-counselling services. Office chief Chandra Kanta Chapagain said the office is working with full commitments to ensuring the rights of citizen and preventing violent activities.
“The Commission is much concerned about incidences of violence, murder, looting, rape, child labour and violence against women taking place in the country,” he said, seeking the cooperation from the state and other bodies to build a just and better society. (RSS)
