23 May kathmandu – Government has provided financial assistance to 625 Nepali migrant workers who died during their work abroad within 10 months of the current fiscal year. Each such family was provided with Rs 700,000 as insurance.
Similarly, financial assistance was provided to 246 people who were mutilated and taken seriously ill in course of abroad jobs during the same period.
Foreign Employment Promotion Board’s executive director Rajan Prasad Shrestha said people sustaining injuries or becoming ill have been provided with five per cent to cent per cent of the Rs 700,000 based on the seriousness of the injury.
Medical treatment expenses have been provided to the families of 19 migrant workers from mid-July 2018 to mid-May 2019.
The Board has been providing Rs 50,000 as medical expenses, in case of five types of critical diseases, to the members of the family of workers who have gone for abroad job by taking labour permit.
The Medical Treatment Assistance Standard, 2073 has provisions providing for financial assistance to the families of the workers for the treatment of cancer, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease and for kidney transplant and cardiac surgery.
In the same period, the Board has written letters for the rescue of 39 Nepalis stranded in the countries of destination due to various reasons and for the repatriation of dead bodies of 69 Nepalis.
Executive director Shrestha said 658 bodies have been transported from the Tribhuvan International Airport to the different addresses in Nepal.
Likewise, the Board has compensated the amount to the 1,037 women who were selected for foreign employment which they had paid while undergoing orientation training.(RSS)
