There has been a delay in blacktopping the total 33 kilometers of the Lamahi-Koilabas road under the Postal Highway. Only 12 kilometers of the road have been blacktopped in 22 months although only eight months remain to meet the 30 months project deadline.
“Only eight months remain to come the deadline to an end. But around 20 kilometers are yet to be blacktopped. So there is not any possibility to complete the work on time,” said project engineer Mukesh Kumar Shah.
Delay in compensating for the lands used for the project and removing electric poles along the project site is to blame for the delay, he said, adding that the affected locals have obstructed the work on one kilometer road, demanding compensation.
Approximately Rs 690 million has been estimated for the project, and Kalika Kumar JV is the contractor. So far more than Rs 260 million has been distributed as compensation for the road, said the district administration office, Dang. (RSS)
