May 28,2017 the day which completely changed my life and my thought. We say that the children outside Kathmandu are facing a lot of problems on education sector but we have the same situation in the capital of our country. We complain so much about our education facility but lets take a look at the slum children who beg in the morning,come to school in the day time and again beg in the evening. Yes, this is the situation of student of Bal Sarathi Academy.
I worked there as a volunteer and I taught science and mathematics. There are 6 classes, starting from nursery to grade 5. These students are really poor. There are around 8 teachers and 4 classes are divided into 2 rooms due to shortage of rooms. This school is around jaybageswori temple and the head of this school is Ms Mala Kharel. The students are given with lunch which consists of rice,dal and if someone donates for particular day lunch, the students are given with Kheer and curry. There are around 70 students in total and the whole school runs with only the help of some donations. The education here is free of cost and even the stationary items. These students come from places like tinganga, pashupati.
The students are provided with various sports equipments like badminton,basketball,football,etc. This school also lacks a play ground so students play outside the school during their recces. The bright students who are hardworking and deserving are sent to boarding schools after they complete their 5th grade. This system have just started but before that the students were placed in different government school after they finished their 5th grade.
The students need more stationaries for a better education. So, it is my humble request you help them so that they have a better future. If anyone wants to help these children please come to the school near jaybageswori temple.
