2.0 is a sequel to the blockbuster movie of 2010, “ROBOT”. ROBOT film featuring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya has received 2 International film awards, 3 film fare awards and 2 screen awards and 2.0 featuring Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson is supposed to bring more successful results by the production team.
2.0 is directed by Sankhar under the banner of LYCA production and is written by BJ Mohan. Its story is based on Indian Imaginary Science. In this film, Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Sudhanshu Pandey and Adil Hussain are in the lead roles. It is Amy’s second film with Sankhar since before she has also worked in his Tamil film “I”. Akshay Kumar and Sudhansu are acting in a negative role. Music is given by OSCOR winner A.R. Rahman and he is determined to do some unique for India as well as for the world.
This is Akshay first debut movie in Tamil and also a first movie of him with Rajinikanth. At first, the role-playing by Akshay was offered to the Hollywood star, “Arnold”, but due to his heavy charge he was not selected and the offer continuously went to some shining stars of Bollywood like Kamal Hasan, Amir Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Neil Niten Mukesh but the role was not accepted by them too. Finally, Akshay was selected suitable for the role. Akshay is playing the role of a scientist DR. Richard who accidentally becomes a crow during his experiment.
2.0 is the first Bollywood movie which is shot on the 3D animation technology. Its first look was released in 2016 with a message “The world is not only for humans.” Rajnikant is playing 5 different roles in the movie and Akshay will be seen doing 12 different roles. The film is estimated to be of the budget of about 4.5 crores and supposed to the most expensive movie in the history of Indian Cinema.
The shooting of the film was started in July 2016. Akshay Kumar to be in the image of the crow, needed a heavy make up of about 6 hours so he has to come to the set very earlier than others. Similarly, Rajinikanth’s makeup to be in the form of a robot needed a makeup of about 4 hours. During the shooting of the film, due to some security reasons, no one was allowed to bring the mobile phone in the set either it was an actor or the crew.
For 2.0, the best movie-making team of the world is used. The official costume designer of the film is Mary E. Vogt, who has designed the costume in Hollywood movie, “Men In Black” and Tamil mover “I”. For the special effects and action scenes, the famous personalities of Hollywood are used. In this film, the audience will get to feel the Legacy effects and Motion capture technology too.
2.0 was shot on Morocco, Los Angeles, Ukraine and India. One of the action scenes was shot on Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Delhi. Rajnikant says that the VFX level of the film matches the standards of Hollywood levels and Akshay Kumar hopes it to create a history. 2.0 is the first movie in India which is being released in 15 different languages. 15 crores were spent in the recent music lunch of the movie. Sankhar hopes to exceed the movie as 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and so on since it is a science fiction movie.
